As a scientist, he never managed to live his life in a meaningful way. While Faust is trapped in this dilemma, he makes a deal with the devil for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures. The Devil will save Faust’s heart from the knowledge disease and will offer him the world's most indispensable pleasures. If Faust says, "Stop time, how beautiful are you!” the devil will have gained the claim. Faust reflects a universal human tragedy full of good and evil, happiness and suffering, life and death, decisions and regrets and contains traces of Goethe's inner world and his own life.
